Best restaurant in the Quiet Corner
“1st visit to an elegant setting with an impressive array of sitting environments. The house baked bread is superb. I’ve been to Italy numerous times and Anya’s bread rivals the best of Puglia with a crisp, chewy crust and a light, airy dough. Glass wines of a wonderfully rich Chianti and a smooth, dry Pinot Grigio were excellent with a perusal of their wine list showing a good variety of reasonable great wines for our next visit. Frito misto for an appetizer was unique with polenta crusted salmon and large chunks of haddock accompanying the usual calamari. My wife’s scallop entree had a generous portion of stunningly large medallions that were perfectly caramelized and sitting on a bed of creamy risotto. My duck “duo” was the best duck I have had since the original Harvest at Bald Hill. A large breast cooked perfectly rare and topped with a fig reduction that was far superior to the usual cherry sauce. The leg/thigh was deep fried with a crispy crust enveloping sumptuous dark meat. The only problem I have with the duck is that I’ll have a hard time not getting it again when I return. Our waitress was wonderful, efficient and accommodating. She understood my request for a half portion of a pasta entree to accompany my duck. The house made linguini with a light saffron cream melts in your mouth. Finished with a rich espresso, limoncello and a decant flourless almond cake sitting on a bed of carmel sauce. The best meal I’ve had in our part of Connecticut heavenly since the Golden Lamb shut down. Can’t wait to return.”

Great Birthday Celebration
“This was the first visit to Anya, but won’t be the last. I planned a birthday suprprise for my husband, along with our 2 older children. He walked in to a beautiful table/booth combo, very intimate and quiet, with balloons in his honor. Between four of us, we had the meat and cheese platter and shrimp appetizer. Followed by rib eye, filet mignon, salmon and the Anya burger. I ordered the brown butter carrots too. As if we needed more, we ordered gelato and creme brulee. My husband had a candle to blow out and we even sang quietly. Yes, Anya is beautiful, classy and pricey! Which some may shy away from. BUT…it was worth every single bit. We left so satisfied with our delicious meals and fantastic service. Thank you for a memorable evening!”

Time Well Spent
“We spent a rainy afternoon celebrating a birthday with the family and had a fabulous time! We ordered off the brunch menu and everything was a gastronomic experience. The cocktails were unique and interesting with top-shelf spirits. We followed it up with the charcuterie comprised of local meats and cheeses; the truffle pecorino and brie with local honey were the favorites. We then moved on to the small plates; who would have thought octopus could have tasted so good! Each of the entrees had their own unique twist and were expertly prepared. Wagyu beef burger was fantastic especially with the hand cut fries. Someone at our table requested a honey mustard and the server stated that they don’t normally offer that but asked the chef to “whip something up”. It was the best honey mustard we ever had! The seasonal ravioli was a butternut squash ravioli and was so good that everyone at the table ended up dipping their bread in the remaining sauce leaving the bowl completely clean. The Eggs Benedict was not your standard fare. From the perfectly poached egg to the braised pork belly, to the house made hollandaise, everything was fantastic! The staff was extremely hospitable and light hearted (even when we had a little spill at the table). They made us feel like they wanted us there and were glad we came. Even though the food and experience was amazing, the best part was that we never felt rushed and were able to relax and enjoy our time together. We spent over 2 hours there; not because service was slow, but because Anya gave us the opportunity to just relax and enjoy the time. We will definitely be back!”

New York finest dining here in Thompson
“Party of six for a double birthday. Balloons adorned the table and the waiters attentiveness to the event happenings was spot on. He asked if this was our first time and since it was he proceeded to explain how the menu worked. He excelled on his explanations and took any questions we had. Cocktail Order was taken and response time very quick. The appetizers were excellently prepared, from the octopus to the kale salad! Entree’s were beautifully presented and were also well prepared. Quality of the food, along with the temperature was excellent. There were a few ladies that took the remains home with them, so portions were adequate. I shall definitely be returning Great job by all and a wonderful atmosphere.”

Big city dining in a small town.
“While watching this beautiful building grow out of a field in Thompson, we were curious what this was going to be. We knew it would be something very special and were not disappointed once we had the opportunity to check it out. The building is gorgeous with a stone patio overlooking a field. It’s such a peaceful setting. The moment you walk into Anya you don’t feel that you are in Northeastern Connecticut. The staff is very professional and courteous. You feel welcomed the moment you enter through the front doors. The decor is very clean and beautiful yet warm at the same time. There is a fireplace raised up so that all diners can enjoy the ambience of the fire and not just one or two tables. Such a nice touch. The bar has high top tables and ample seating around the bar as well. Like the dining rooms, the bar is sophisticated and lovely. More importantly than the atmosphere at Anya is the menu. We have dined there just about every week since their opening. Can you tell we LOVE it? The menu has a lot to offer including appetizers like charcuterie, offering a nice selection of meats and cheeses to ceviche and burrata that awakens your taste buds served with strawberry and tomato. We have had several of the a la carte items such as lamb chop, filet, Delmonico, and of course the prime rib. The cuts of meat are all high quality and all were cooked perfectly to our liking and nicely seasoned. The house made pasta is very good and cooked perfectly. We have tried the linguini with shrimp and clams as well as the tagliatelle served with mushroom and shaved truffle. Being a huge truffle fan I was very excited to see this on their menu and again was not disappointed. Be sure to save room for dessert!! They are alll amazing from the gelato to the creme brûlée. Back to the bar. They have a very interesting offering of unique cocktails typically seen in fine restaurants in a bigger city. The wine list is not extensive and confusing. There is a fine selection of well chosen wines offered by the bottle as well as by the glass at different price points. I have recommended Anya to many people and have gotten all positive feedback. Where Anya is more sophisticated than other local restaurants, it is a great place to go in your finest dress or a more casual-dress type outfit. One night we had dinner there just after getting off the golf course. We ate at the bar and felt comfortable doing so. It’s our new go to restaurant and we’re very excited to see how it evolves.”

The perfect definition of casual elegance
“If you have the opportunity to dine at Anya you should certainly do so. Anya is an absolute gem with every detail thoughtfully and meticulously planned and executed to perfection. The building is beautiful and sits alone in a field on a country road in Connecticut’s Quiet Corner just 2 miles off of Interstate 395. The decor is upscale and elegant while maintaining the country charm of its location. The staff is friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The menu offerings are carefully prepared and plated and exceeded our expectations in every way. With pictures being worth a thousand words I suggest looking at their website to see for yourself why Anya is worth the trip.”

Everything was truly delicious
“My boyfriend and I checked out ANYA for the first time last night. It was one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. Our waiter was very caring and conscientious. It is clear that he takes great pride in his job and making sure people are well cared for. He checked in constantly, gave great recommendations, and made the night memorable.
For food, we started with bone marrow, octopus, and bean soup. Everything was delicious! We love octopus and this had the perfect spices to accompany it and the radicchio and orange slices really brought all the flavors together. The bean soup was comforting and hot. The bone marrow was really a great spread onto the perfect home made bread that we enjoyed as well. For dinner we shared the duck two ways, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts. Everything was truly delicious and could not have been better. We will definitely be back soon!”
